The Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit (HRAGD) is dedicated to advancing the human resources profession by educating, supporting, and engaging practitioners in the Greater Metropolitan Detroit area.
As the one of the largest SHRM-affiliated chapters in Michigan, we provide our members the opportunity to enhance their professional skills and business knowledge through monthly chapter meetings, seminars and workshops, most of which are pre-designated for PHR, SPHR or GPHR recertification credits. We are pleased to include MoCA Total Rewards to our growing number of Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) which also includes HR Connects events, where you can enjoy social networking with other human resources practitioners or, if you prefer, you may network via HRAGD’s LinkedIn group. We encourage and support the communities we live and work in through community service events and support of local student chapters.
March Chapter Meeting: What Every Strategic HR Professional Needs to Know Now

New statutes, regulations and court opinions constantly change an HR Professional’s approach to legal issues in the workplace. Eight members of the Legal Affairs Committee will present its annual seminar, “Legal Updates: What Every HR Professional Needs to Know”.
Topics will include sexual harassment and workplace romances, an overview of and changes to immigration law compliance, hot topics with the NLRB including the Boeing Case; Whistleblowers Protection Act and other retaliation claims, OFCCP’s regulatory changes, multi-generational issues in the workplace, retirement plan documents and administration errors, independent contractor issues, and highlights of this year’s Title VII, FMLA and ADA court opinions.

Pay It Forward: New Member in Transition Program
The new Pay It Forward program is designed to support HR professionals whose jobs have been impacted by the economy. Individuals gain the most value in belonging to an organization where they find personal connections, inspiration and leadership from others as they navigate the next path in their careers.
